We may contact you because our international partners have identified royalties that appear to be due to performers represented by your agency, or previously represented by you. As agencies maintain key contact information and relationship histories, your cooperation helps us locate the right performers or their estates, so that those royalties can be properly paid.
2. What are you asking agencies to do?
When we send a list of names to an agency, we ask them to:
- Confirm whether they currently represent, or have previously represented, any listed performers.
- Provide up to date contact details for those performers, or forward our communication to them.
- Let us know if any performer is deceased, so we can begin tracing next of kin and handle any royalties due to the late estate in an appropriate and respectful manner.
3. Do agencies or performers have to pay anything?
No. Membership of SASPRO is free of charge. We do not require performers or agencies to pay a joining fee. SASPRO’s operating model is based on administering rights and deducting a transparent, agreed management fee from royalties collected, so that the majority of income flows to the performers.
4. How does a performer join SASPRO?
Performers can join SASPRO by completing a membership application form available on our website. The form asks for basic personal and professional information, including identity details, contact information, and relevant credits. This information allows SASPRO to confirm the performer’s identity, link them to the productions in which they appear, and process royalty payments securely.
5. Why is membership necessary to receive royalties?
Membership authorises SASPRO to act on the performer’s behalf in claiming royalties from local and foreign collective management organisations, and to distribute those royalties to the performer. Without this authorisation, we may not have the legal standing or the practical information needed to claim and pay out the money.
6. What happens if a performer is deceased?

7. How will performers receive payments?
Once royalties are collected and allocated, SASPRO will pay performers (or their estates) via the agreed payment method, such as electronic funds transfer into a nominated bank account. Detailed statements will be provided so that members can see the sources and amounts of any royalties paid.
